  2. Answer the 11 questions given to you.
  3. Share 11 facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 5 – 11 other bloggers for the award.
  5. Ask your nominees 11 questions.
  6. Notify your nominees once you have uploaded your post.

My Answers to Janet’s Questions

  1. What is your greatest life lesson so far? Always expect the unexpected. Nothing in my life has ever went “as planned”. Be open to new ideas, new paths and new experiences.
  1. What’s you favorite car karaoke song to sing? “Blue Bayou” by Linda Ronstadt. Believe me, I belt it and I kill it. Take that expression however you want.
  1. Name one habit you would like to quit and one you would like to start. I would like to quit dwelling in the past. I linger there too often and for extended periods of time. I would like to start living in the moment. It takes practice, so I suppose I should start practicing.
  1. What has been your greatest challenge in the past month? Keeping my walking habit going during the rainy, gloomy days and my “want to be a couch potato days”.
  1. Share one thing you’ve never shared before about yourself. I was married for 24 years before my divorce.
  1. What are you most afraid of? Making bad life decisions….actually making life decisions based on someone else’s needs INSTEAD of my own.
  1. Have you ever been mistaken for someone else? Just my sister, well maybe 2 of them. We all looked alike at some point in our lives. It’s not really an issue right now though.
  1. What’s missing in your life? ADVENTURE!! But, I can still dream about it.
  1. What is the Number 1 thing on your bucket list? Hiking down in the Grand Canyon. I live in the south-eastern side of the U.S.A. I just want to do some hiking out west.
  1. Would you rather camp or stay in a 5- star hotel? A tent in the middle of the woods sounds lovely to me. I suppose I could pitch a tent and stay outside tonight, but I feel I have to hike for hours, be in the middle of nowhere and hear nothing but the rustling of the woods in order to enjoy my sleep in a tent. In case you are curious, I will be snuggled up in bed tonight.
  1. Are you an introvert or extrovert? I am an introvert. I must have alone time everyday or I jump over the edge of crazy.

11 Facts About Myself

  1. I started my blog, While Walking Today, after I went for a walk down my road to get away from the stress of my day. I started typing when my walk was over, in the middle of my driveway, without any plan other than to vent, walk and breathe.
  1. I love Quentin Tarantino films, Seinfeld, Shark Tank and Peaky Blinders.
  1. One of my favorite things to do is sit on my swing with a cup of coffee, stare, space out and daydream….I need a hobby I suppose.
  1. I would love to be a full-time blogger that actually makes money, BUT, I can’t figure out basic things like menus and footers. SO, I might need to keep my day job.
  1. I love writing with blue ink. Black ink MAKES ME scribble chicken scratch. Blue ink inspires me to write neatly with beautiful penmanship.
  1. I would love to travel to New Zealand. I hope I get to. Please send me cash…just kidding.
  1. If I won the lottery, I would quit my job, buy a Jeep for my daughter and pay off my son’s truck. I would buy myself a helluva RV and hit the road. I would just drive and drive and drive.
  1. If I could keep any animal as a pet, I would keep an orangutan. They are so magical, beautiful, gentle and loving creatures. I would be the envy of everyone as I drove past them in my decked out RV and my orangutan riding shot gun.
  1. I have one tattoo and don’t plan on getting anymore…well maybe one more.
  1. My best vacation was last summer with my 2 adult kids. We went to Colorado Springs, Colorado. We hiked, ate a lot, smoked some pot, ate some more and relaxed. Then we did it all over again.
  1. I am fairly boring it seems. I will work on that.

Beautiful Day for a Walk and a Little Flower

Day 53

  • The sun shone on me today for most of my walk. It was beautiful, breathtaking and much needed.
  • I bragged just a moment too soon and before I knew it, I was getting rained on.
  • It didn’t last long and I was mid stride with my face in the sun again.
  • I ordered a pedometer today from Amazon. I would like to know just how many steps I actually take in a given day, since as of my day 1 walk I have only tracked the mileage of “my walk”.
  • Today I walked 5 miles. I feel another 5 in me but there are so many other things I need to do right now.
  • I hope the sun shone on you all today, if only just a peek.

Quote of the Day

Just living is not enough…One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.

Anxiety Ridden Day

Day 52

  • For those of you with anxiety, you know some days are worse than others. Today was on the bad side of the anxiety spectrum for me.
  • It’s just the life as we, the world, know it right now. It causes everyone some sort of worry, stress or anxiety. And it had a hold of me today.
  • I walked 2.5 miles and talked it out on the phone. I feel better now, but I still may go after another mile or two.
  • Here’s to walking out your anxiety!

Quote of the Day

Anxiety was born in the very same moment as mankind. And since we will never be able to master it, we will have to learn to live with it—just as we have learned to live with storms.

– Paulo Coelho

Mudding and Getting Along

Day 50

  • I can’t wait to go on a hike in the woods. Someday, soon, hopefully I will pack up my backpack, load up my car with gas and snacks and HEAD OUT FOR A MINI HIKING TRIP.
  • But for now, the social distancing and closures won’t allow it. So I walked in the rain on 2 occasions today.
  • The first to get out of the house and ironic as it may be, the 2nd to get out of the house AGAIN.
  • The rain deterred me from logging in very many miles. The mud prevented me from off roading and the kids prevented me from enjoying a peaceful rainy day inside. So I must look at that as a positive.
  • If it weren’t for the fighting, bickering and plain ol’ not getting along I may not have took the 2 walks today that allowed me to clock-in 3.5 MILES!
  • So here’s to looking on the brightside and looking at all of the avenues of getting in our daily walks as a POSITIVE!

Quote of the Day

Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.

Walking Days 49- 54 walking today

Day 49

I have got to let my feet heal up. New shoes, different socks, bandaid or no bandaid, I have got to take better care of my feet.

I get in the rythm and the march of my walks and I don’t let anything interrupt me. Not even blisters, calluses or bleeding heels.

I hobbled down the road today. Not far, but I was determined to keep in my daily walking habit.

One painful yet accomplished mile. Tomorrow I will be bandaged up and prepared for my walk.

Keep on keeping on!

Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They’re made of sweat, determination and a hard-to-find alloy called guts. – Dan Gable
